Rally Report

Springfields Christmas Dinner Dance, Spalding. 30 November – 2nd December 2018

Over 60 vans, arrived to take part in our second Grand Christmas Dinner Dance. Last year had been so successful that we increased the number of tickets available and still filled the places. It was lovely to welcome not only East Midlands members, but some of our friends from Anglia, Severn Valley, North West Midlands and North Wales, Yorkshire and East Wessex.

There was plenty of opportunity to shop in the Springfields Centre itself, or further afield in Spalding or Kings Lynn. The number of laden bags being carried back to our motorhomes were evidence of many a successful trip! Plenty of places to enjoy a bite to eat or cup of coffee as well.

The hall looked a picture with Christmas trees and coloured lights – but it was outclassed by the dazzling picture created by those attending Saturday’s dinner/dance. What a treat to dress for the occasion – and, having made that extra special effort, everyone looked stunning. Following a 2-course meal cooked and served by Springfields events staff, we danced the evening away to music by Carlson and Baillee. We had a really enjoyable evening – and shared our good fortune by raising £216 for our Charity of the Year, Macmillan Cancer Support; Geoff Workman being the lucky winner of a vintage whisky decanter.

Coffee morning on Sunday saw ‘Paul I never win’ win several times in the raffle, though he did let many other members win as well! Several members were celebrating birthdays - though the suggestion of using winnings as birthday presents might not have been the best idea! Anne thanked everyone for attending and on behalf of all the visitors, Tony Chapman thanked the East Midlands Committee for organising such an enjoyable weekend.
