Rally Report

Cromford Rally 23 -28 August 2019

The rally opened in brilliant sunshine which continued all over the weekend. A total of 48 vans attended the rally with one each from Chiltern, West Wessex, Sussex and NWM&NW and two vans from Yorkshire and 42 from East Midlands with Jackie and Brian Gaylor and Sue and Peter Hopwood joining us for their first rally.

On Friday evening we played bingo and had time to catch up with friends and chat. On Saturday morning Anne Taylor welcomed us all to the rally and raffle tickets went on sale. Saturday was a free day when ralliers went to Buxton, Bakewell, Ashbourne, Matlock or just walked by the canal and had a ice cream. Saturday night we were entertained by the magician Manzini ably assisted by Val and the non-existing rabbit.

Sunday afternoon was the annual boules competition which was keenly contested and after a close final was won by Dave and Jean Longhurst followed by a cream tea and book sale which raised £200 for Macmillan. Sunday night was ‘East Midlands’ Got Talent’ where everyone contributed to a fantastic evening of singing and dancing.

On Monday afternoon it was a communal barbecue in the wonderful sunshine. Monday and Tuesday evenings, we congregated in the hall for quizzes and chats.

Once again Cromford was a successful rally due to the hard work and organisation carried out by the stewards Les, Joyce, Ken, Liz, John and Pauline.
