Rally Report

Burns Night at Hose 17 - 19 January 2020

On a cold January afternoon the stewards awaited the arrival of members for the Burns Night rally at Hose.

Tom was first to arrive followed a steady stream, until all 30 motorhomes were safely sited. The hall was opened at 7pm time to meet up with friends for an evening of Bingo, a Burns night theme quiz (put together by Paul) and general chat and drinks with friends.

Saturday morning after coffee members drifted off either to Melton Mowbray or a stroll round the village and a visit to the local pub. The kitchen was a hive of activity preparing the food for our three course Burns night supper. A break for afternoon tea before setting up the tables and decorating the hall. Les then took on the task of cooking the haggis etc.

At 6pm members entered the hall wearing an assortment of Scottish dress kilts, tartan trousers, dresses and not forgetting the silly hats. As usual the food was cooked and served up to perfection. Les then did a brilliant Addressing the Haggis, after it had been paraded round the hall by Joyce closely followed by Bernadette swinging two whiskey bottles with gay abandon. The knockout curling competition followed the meal, and was eventually won by David Harcourt and Pam Woolley who were presented with the prestigious cup and tin of shortbread. Couldn’t end the evening without the Gay Gordons which caused great amusement from dancers, trying to all keep in step with each other to Les’s upbeat version!

A big thank you goes to all those who helped with the supper, and to all the members who attended for making this such a thoroughly enjoyable rally.

From your Stewards: Anne Ron Paul Jane
