Easter at Springfields
This year’s Easter Rally at Springfields was a great success, attracting 51 vans from across the regions. These included Anglia (2), Chiltern (2), Nene Valley (3), Severn Valley (2), Yorkshire (3), Kent (1), Sussex (1), and an impressive 37 from the East Midlands. It was also a pleasure to welcome three first-time ralliers.
Arrivals began at midday on Thursday in glorious sunshine, setting the tone for a relaxed and friendly weekend. That evening, Chairman Sandra welcomed everyone, followed by an entertaining bingo session hosted by Pete, whose cheeky style raised plenty of laughs. Debbie led a fun game of dingbats, with the evening rounded off with music from our entertainment secretary Ian. Friday morning began with tea, coffee, and hot cross buns. In the evening, Col Stevens provided lively 60s and 70s music, keeping the dance floor busy. Saturday was free for exploring nearby Spalding or the adjacent shopping outlet. The evening’s entertainment was a highlight, with Velvet Souls delivering a fantastic performance that had everyone dancing. On Sunday morning, Sandra thanked all who contributed to the rally’s success, followed by the raffle draw led by Dave and Champa. The Easter Bonnet competition showcased great creativity, with Bill winning the men’s, Anne the ladies’, and Thea the children’s prize. An Easter egg hunt ensured plenty of chocolate for the children. Sunday evening featured a team quiz, won by “The Flamingos,” followed by “Open the Box,” where Josie won £106, and a lively open mic session. The weekend ended Monday with coffee and warm wishes for safe journeys home. |
