Husbands Bosworth Gliding Centre

The East Midlands returned to the ever-popular Husbands Bosworth Gliding Centre for a relaxing weekend rally, stewarded by Bill & Dot and Dave & Champa.

Members began arriving from midday on Friday in glorious sunshine, setting the scene for an enjoyable gathering. In total, 21 motorhomes attended, including visitors from Yorkshire and Nene Valley, alongside 19 East Midlands units. We were also delighted to welcome first-time ralliers Karen and Phil, who quickly settled into the friendly atmosphere.

The gliding centre certainly lived up to its name on Friday afternoon, with plenty of aircraft taking to the skies and providing an interesting backdrop to the rally field. After rally fees had been collected and raffle tickets sold, our chairman officially welcomed everyone to the weekend. The evening continued with a lively game of bingo, followed by music, conversation and the chance to catch up with friends old and new.

Saturday morning brought a change in the weather, with rain and low cloud base grounding the gliders and curtailing flying activities. However, spirits remained high and, as the weather improved later in the day, members took the opportunity to stroll into the village or enjoy a visit to the on-site café, where coffee, cake and plenty of chat were on the menu.

The evening programme was a more leisurely affair. Following the raffle draw, Bill tested everyone's knowledge with a table quiz that generated plenty of discussion and good-natured debate. The entertainment then continued with music provided by our very own Ian, ensuring another enjoyable social evening.

Sunday morning saw members gathering around the stewards' vans for a coffee morning, providing one final opportunity to exchange stories and make plans for future rallies. While some members headed home during the morning, others lingered for several more hours, enjoying the improving weather or treating themselves to Sunday lunch in the café before eventually setting off.

Many thanks to Bill & Dot and Dave & Champa for stewarding a friendly and enjoyable weekend, and to everyone who attended and helped make the rally such a success.
