Poplar Farm Temporary Campsite, Sandilands 11 - 14 October 2020

Our second Temporary Campsite was held at Poplar Farm, Sandilands near Sutton-on-Sea. This was our first visit to this family-run site. Tucked into the countryside not far from the sea and within walking distance of a bus stop, the field was large enough for us not to have to book. There were plenty of walks nearby – which especially pleased the dogs! Despite the fact that we couldn’t gather as usual in the evenings or for our coffee mornings, we still managed to catch up with friends – albeit only in groups of no more than 6… and with a tearoom on site, most of us took advantage of the “home-cooked” meals, cakes, teas and coffee.

They say Skegness is so bracing, but I can confirm that Sandilands was just as breezy! Despite that, the weather was kind to us and it was nice enough to set off walking across the fields to the sea front in shorts and t-shirts! Sutton-on-Sea was within walking, biking or bus ride distance depending on how energetic you were feeling. Some even went further afield to Skegness. Why do fish and chips by the sea always taste so good that you just have to eat them?
