Rally Report

Valentine Rally at Marshalls’ Sports’ Ground, 8 - 10 February 2019

Bill, Dot, Dave and Champa welcomed 21 vans arrived for our Valentine Rally – all East Midlands members. Peter and Julie Lucas joined the Club at the rally and he received a first time ralliers’ plaque from Anne. After bingo, Dave Geall was volunteered to read out the quiz questions which proved to be challenging to read as well as answer! We also had fun trying to ‘Name the Couples’ from photographs of our Christmas Dinner/Dance – first names came easily – but for those extra points, the surnames were a little more elusive!

After a blustery night that rocked many of us to the state of being wide awake rather than asleep, the weather was a lot kinder to us. But not as kind as David Cox, an East Midlands member and owner of ‘Cox’s Traditional Fish and Chip Shop’ who offered us a ‘BOGOF’ from his menu. The shop was just around the corner from our venue and many of us took him up on his offer – the fish and chips were delicious. Thank you, David.

Back in the hall, Bill, Dot, Dave and Champa had been busy decorating tables with table cloths, roses and glitter hearts – it looked a picture and truly set the scene for the evening. Punch was served followed by cakes – a real treat. A big thank you to our Stewards (and Carol whom I spotted helping out in the kitchen!) Dave provided the romantic music and we all had a good time.

All too soon the weekend was over and after coffee morning, we set off for home feeling relaxed and refreshed. Sue P
