Rally Report
Cromford 24 - 28 June 2022
44 vans attended our Cromford Charity Rally. Weather was sunny on our arrival on Friday. We were greeted by our stewards who gave us a cryptic van quiz to keep us busy over the weekend. Friday evening we were welcomed to the rally by our vice chairman Paul, then played bingo followed by a quiz which was won by Brian and David’s team. Background music was played by disco Dave whilst the members made welcome our first timers and members from other groups.
We woke Saturday to a miserable day weather wise. Coffee morning then a free day to go to the nearby attractions or just to the pub for lunch. Saturday evening, we were entertained by Danny S, a fantastic singer. What a night -brilliant!
Sunday was to be a busy day. Firstly it was a coffee morning then the raffle draw and the result of the van quiz which was won by our visiting friends from Yorkshire - well done. This was followed by the annual boules competition. The sun came out to make it a pleasant afternoon. The champions were Paul and Jane who were presented with the new cup by our chairperson Anne. Afternoon cream tea followed which was prepared by Carol and Dot helped by Dave and Mandy and there was a tombola with loads of prizes to win. In the evening it was ‘East Midlands got Talent.’ And what talent - we have got some brilliant singers and Rob with his guitar played a few songs.
Monday saw some of our members leaving. There was a coffee morning then a free day until the communal barbecue at teatime. In the evening there was a music quiz prepared by disco Dave which was won by the members from Yorkshire. Joyce then did a quiz with a colour theme which was won by Bob. Background music followed whilst we all chatted and said our goodbyes ready for our departure on Tuesday. Thank you to our stewards Les, Joyce, Stan, Pauline, Carol and Dave for providing an excellent charity rally at a beautiful venue.
